Pharast 22nd, 4709 – We set off back to Agrippa tribes the Skoan Quah. It was an uneventful ride through the Cinderlands.
Pharast 23rd, 4709 – Being a cooler day rizzle asked if we could walk we should be close to the river anyway to save the phantom steed ritual. It was a nice walk and we almost made it to the river.
Pharast 24th, 4709 – We sent the whole day searching for the river ford because Rizzle did not imbue the power of walking on water in the phantom steeds. We did find the ford and was able to cross the river.
Pharast 25th, 4709 – Looking for the crossing took us out of our way and we could not make the Skoan Quah tribe this day.
Pharast 26th, 4709 – We arrive at the Skoan Quah camp. Truthspeaker Akram told the tale to the Skoan Quah tribe of his epic feat of being reborn by the great worm Cindermaw. Thousand Bones ask Agrippa what his new name should be since he had done this great feat. Agrippa announced his name to be “Wormborn legend-that-walks”. He got his head shaved and was given his choice of the tribe tattoos and warpaints. Wormborn Legend-that-walks is now Agrippa new name. He was proud when he came back to us shaved and tattooed. The whole tribe was very proud of his feat wanting to hear the story retold several times.
Pharast 27th, 4709 – We are off to the Skylar Quah to talk to the Sun Shaman about the crown of fangs.
Pharast 28th, 4709 – Another uneventful day in the Cinderland we should make the encampment of the Skylar Quah tomorrow.
Pharast 29th, 4709 – As we came into the Skylar Quah camp we noticed the trail is forcing us to go single file. Rizzle said that the Phantom Steed can go over the spike set off the trail but as soon as his steed went off the trail it struck a spike which dispelled the steed causing Rizzle to be in the spikes. Agrippa got off his steed and gave it to Rizzle to ride into the camp. The Truthspeaker Akram announced the Wormborn legend-that-walks and told his epic tale of being reborn from the Cindermaw worm. The tribe was amazed and shocked that a Skoan Quah could do such a feat. Since Wormborn has done this feat he was aloud to ask the Sun Shaman anything. The Sun Shaman with the elder of the tribe admitted Wormborn and the Trothspeaker Akram into the tent of the Sun Shaman were he would surrender secrets that are hidden from the majority of the tribe. Wormborn told us later that the Sun Shaman would not answer his questions about the crown of fangs. The Sun Shaman kept asking him to lead his people in war against the Korvosens. Truthspeaker Akram told Wormborn to ask for the Trial of the Totems. The Sun Shaman agreed if he can pass this trial he would give him the secrets of the crown of fangs. Wormborn ask us to assist him in this feat.
Pharast 30th thru Gozran 2nd, 4709 – We assisted Wormborn in the trial of the totems. We could help him keep it up right and give him food and water. We kept him a wake and I was impressed at his strength and endurance holding that totem for three days. At the end of the trail the Sun Shaman told us to rest and tomorrow he call a council meeting to tell him the history of the Crown of Fangs. We found out that Krojun had come back to the tribe today and was angry that Wormborn had done the heroic feat of being reborn from the great Cindermaw worm. He was also upset that Wormborn had completed the trail of the totems. I’m sure we may need to watch ourselves around Krojun.
Gozran 3rd, 4709 – The Sun Shaman held a council meeting and told us the history of the Crown of Fangs. The Crown of Fangs was made from the teeth of a mighty blue dragon by the name of Kazavon. Kazavon was a mighty warlord-tyrant in the service of the god Zon-Kuthon. Kazavon crushed every army sent against him and seemed invincible. Until a mighty hero by the name of Mandraivus took up the great sword Serithial and organized a band of powerful allies to go against Kazavon. Mandraivus wisely sought to slay Kazavon without facing his army. One of Mandraivus allies was a Sun Shaman form the Sklyar Quah tribe. The dragon was slain but his body began to regenerate itself. In order to prevent the dragon from regenerating, the dragon body was dismembered and burned. Mandraivus asked each of the surviving allies to take a piece of Kazavon away with them so that the dragon could not reform again. The Sun Shaman left with an armful of the dragon’s teeth and formed them into the crown which is now called the crown of fangs. The crown of fangs was hidden away in the deep recesses of the Skylar Quah’s pyramid. It was safe until the arrival of the Chelaxians who stole the Shoanti’s land and built their city and castle atop the Shoanti’s great pyramid. The queen or someone must have finally found the crown of fangs. The Sun Shaman believes that the queen is being used by the dragon Kazavon some how and will eventually destroy her. We will need to find the sword of Serithial to defeat Kazavon again.
After talking with the Sun Shaman he called for a feast and dancing to celebrate the Wormborn Qual Keck’s great feats. After a few hours of celebration the Skylar Quah camp was attacked by a group of the Red Mantis assassins and assisted by gargoyle allies who flew them in and dropped them all around the camp attacking the Skylar Quah. As we got into the fight with a few Red Mantis and gargoyles the type I fought a month ago. The Red Mantis was setting fire to all the tents killing any one getting in their way. We found out if you did not destroy the gargoyles quick enough they would turn into stone and seem to be regenerating them selves. During the attack I told Truthspeaker Akram to lye down so I could stand over him to protect him. While we were fighting the gargoyles on the ground, a flying gargoyle was circling us with a man shooting at us from the back of the gargoyle. He seemed to be targeting Wormborn until Andrian hit him with his dagger. We needed to bring him down quickly so Carufinwe started shooting at him, too. As we found out later it was the legendary Cinderlander who hunted the Shoanti. After killing the Cinderlander the gargoyle he was riding landed and attack us. Rizzle was being attacked by the gargoyle and I used my power to heal him and to use my Knights of Valor to help protect him and my back. We used the gargoyle that turn to stone to also help protect us just that it might be bad when they come back to life. I was trying to get us all, to just attack one gargoyle at a time to see if we could destroy it before it turned to stone to regenerate. The Red Mantis came in to attack us but after only a few try and a few of their member lying dead they retreated leaving the gargoyles to kill us. Just as he had all the gargoyles turn to stone and started our attack on one stone gargoyle the leader of the Red Mantis called Andrian out to fight her. Cinnabar challenged Andrian to a duel to end the fighting. Andrian accepted and I was glad I healed him just before she arrived. At first it seemed Andrian may be outmatched as her first attacks hit home but Andrian got in a good hit of his own. She got him one more time during the battle as his cunning and the protection of Torag kept him save. Once again he was able to some how cause her to miss and stun her. He was able to get around her to cut her throat leaving her dead on the ground. The Red Mantis assassins could not believe their captain Cinnabar was dead and fled from the camp of the Skylar Quah. All the gargoyles that were stone still in the camp we all ganged up on them to smash them to bits. After destroying all the gargoyles left we noticed that the Skylar Quah took heavy losses as the Red Mantis killed many women and children during the chaotic fight. The only bright spot was we saved them from being annihilated.
