Murder at the Saw Mill

Lamashan 12, 4708 (10/31/2008) – It was early in the morning when Lyk drag me out of bed. He told me to come with him, his uncle wanted to tell us something before it became known. Lyk had gotten all of us up, Carufinwe, Riley and Andrian, to see his uncle. Before the Sheriff started he told us to gather around he wanted to speak low so no one could hear us. I told him I could do a ritual that would keep people from eavesdropping. So I cast my ritual to silence the room. He then told us about the murder at the saw mill. Where a young girl named Katerine Vinder was cut in half by the saw and Banny Harker was nail to the wall with his lower jaw bone removed. But, the bad part was a note to Lyk from his Lordship. This did not look good for Lyk and almost showed that Lyk was involved. The Sheriff was sure he was not but wanted us to go up to the saw mill to check it out. The Sheriff deputized us so we could get into the saw mill.

The scene was bad and both where dead. Andrian and Lyk where amazing to me. They figured out a lot. It looked like the girl back into the running saw either to get away from the attacker or she stumble getting away from the attacker. Because how the body landed it was a fall not thrown into and Banny did not have her blood on him and no foot prints in the blood when she went into the blade. It was a strong attacker to nail him to the hall and the mark of the ruin with the greed symbol pointing up carved on his chest was not pretty. They also found other tracks that looked like a claw and human foot outside. But we lost it when we got to the river. Getting as much information at the saw mill we went back to the sheriff.

We wanted to talk to Ibor Thorn, Banny partner at the saw mill. The Sheriff had him brought up to his room where we could talk to him without worrying about eavesdroppers. Ibor told us about Banny double book keeping and who he was cheating. This all pointed to the Grief rune but why. Andrian and Riley wanted to talk to the person we gave the books to check out and knew a lot about the runes. He did tell us about the rune but why the murders is still the question.

Later after we told Sheriff Belor what we found out he told us about the second murders earlier this week. The only survivor was Grayst Sevila a thug. They also had the same rune on their chest and the lower jaw bone removed. Andrian said that it seems that the lower jaw is a collector item for like a trophy item to the attacker. Grayst Sevila is still alive but he is mad and you can not get anything from him. But, that was our only clue left. So, tomorrow we will travel to the sanitarium to visit Grayst.
