Silas and Karivek Vekker

Sarenith 11th, 4709 – We reach what looks like a cabin and a shaft leading up the mountain to another cabin then into a mine. As we reach the cabin a snow storm started to come forcing to find shelter. We were able to get into the cabin to find it is where they brought the ore down to separate and refine it. The cabin looked to be dwarven made. We came upon a pile of gold dust and then Andrian touch the pile an image appeared of a dwarf filling his month full of gold dust as if he was eating it. This dwarf looked like a dwarf from Janderhoff. We left this room as there was no other exit. We went back to the front doors and entered the cabin main entrance. We found nothing here except a shaft with stairs going up. As we climb the stairs Andrain step on one and almost fell but his great reflex saved him. The rest of us were able to jump to the next step with out any problem. As we search the place it looking to be a dwarf mining cabin. I remember about two dwarf Silas and Karivek Vekker telling they found a very rich mine. They got backer for the expedition and left to never be heard from again. It was assumed that they swindle the backer and just ran off with the money. Now it looks like they did have a mine after all. As we search the place we found no one until we went into the kitchen area where we found a pile of dwarven bones, stain blood all over the room and a destroyed kitchen as if they had fought who would be eaten. It looks like they were caught for a long time or the sin of gluttony got to them and they started to resort to cannibalism. It looks like the sin got them because we are being effect by it, too. If Andrian does not learn to control his we may be doom ourselves.

I noticed a ring that look like my ring of dwarf lords and when I reach for it I got a version of me dead and being eaten by Silas and Karivek. Then several dwarf ghosts appear and attack us. It was a tough battle because it was a small room for all of us and the ghost to be fighting in. We did not fare well as the ghosts were able to control Dacw and forced him to attack Rizzle who used his escape spell. We found out later that Rizzle teleported and fell to the ground to escape Dacw blade. I was able to destroy the ones that where hurt and causing damage to the rest with my turn undead ritual. Dacw and Andrian were able to destroy a few more and this turn the battle for us. The ghost was able to control Shaleu but she did little damage to Dacw but the ghost did get a couple of attacks on Shaleu. At this stage of the fight, we had control and had broken there hold on us so we could gang up and finish them off.

After the battle a ghost dwarf appeared in front of us. It was like the ones we just fought it was whole then started to be eaten and when just a skeleton, then would be whole again to repeat the scene. This dwarf did not attack but told us he was Silas Vekker. He told us of his tale of coming here then the snow storm lasted months before they started to eat each other. It came down to Silas and Karivek. Silas wants us to find Karivek body and bring it back to him so we can help him put his spirit and his bother spirit to rest. If we do that we will guide us to Xin-Shalast. We agreed to find his brother Karivek.

As we finished our talk with Silas Rizzle had return and told us we was lost in the storm but then it stop and he noticed he was walking away from the building. He thought there would be a ledge outside but there was not one. He did land in a large snow pile breaking his fall. Then we climb the stairs back up to us. It was late so we decide to rest for the night and look for Karivek body in the morning.

Sarenith 12th, 4709 - Silas told us roughly where we could find his brother body. So, we set out side in search of Karivek body. The storm was over but it was rough going through the deep snow. As we were looking for Karivek body we came cause his spirit. He was like the other ghost we encounter except only part of his body was eaten not all of it showing us that Karivek started to eat himself. Because Karivek was a lone spirit we were able to defeat him quickly and without to much trouble. We found his bones only a few feet from where we had fought his spirit. We gather them up and return to Silas.

As we were traveling back we would hear the word “wendigo” in the breeze. Just as we got back into the cabin we were attacked by a strange creature that looked like a dead and decaying deer. This was a tough battle for us as it had a strange breath that cause us damage. Because, it was alone and we could gang up on it we were able to defeat it. We did not kill it as it seem to be able to disappear into the floor before we could destroy it forever.

After the battle Silas ghost appeared and he gave him Karivek’s body to him. When we did this Silas forgave his brother for killing him and eating him this released Karivek’s trapped spirit. This act seem to make them both at peace. Silas agreed to guide us to Xin-Shalast but he also told us that a snow fey called Svevenka is the one that guided him and his brother to Xin-Shalast. He told us we will have to persuade Svevenka to take us the rest of the way. We decided since it was getting into the afternoon we would start out in the morning.

Sarenith 14th, 4709 – We left the cabin with Silas as our guide through the mountains. The mountain was rough to travel by foot but we traded off leading and breaking through the snow so we could all be strong if attacked. We made good time even having more breaks than we wanted. It was a nice evening and still seeing creature that seem to be there but when you look they are not.

Sarenith 15th, 4709 – Silas told us more of his sad tale and to me it was greed to bring home the big spoils of Xin-Shalast that is the real story to be learned. Another travel on foot but once again we did not see anything except those strange sightings that seem to be there but are not.

Sarenith 16th, 4709 – Silas Vekker lead us successfully through the mountains and by the afternoon to the fey winter spirit named Svevenka. When we talk to her she wanted something that she could not get for herself to lead us to Xin-Shalast. After talking what to give her I gave her my adamantine dagger we just had made. When she saw this she agreed to be our guide. She told us that we could not leave until we have a full moon. We will have to wait a few days for the next full moon. Silas thank us and left at peace. Svevenka took us to her cave to wait for the full moon.
